Art
for Peace
A
better understanding of culture
and a message for peace through art
The
Artist-In-Residence program, begun 5 years ago by Coral
Springs Museum of Art, will host sculptors of international
acclaim from five continents: Europe, Africa, North
America, South America and Asia. The theme is Art for
Peace and the scope of the project is so immense that
it will take two years to complete – 2006 through
2007.
On
Saturday, January 7, 2006, three stone-cutters came
together for 21 days to create three new sculptures
for a special, permanent section of the Museum's grounds,
the International Peace Garden. All in all, these sculptors
chipped and sawed way at more than 10 tons (20,000 pounds)
of stone.
