| Dedication Ceremony
To celebrate the completion of this program, the Museum would
like to invite everyone to a Dedication ceremony
on Saturday, March 15 at 12pm. The ceremony will take place in the International Peace garden on the grounds of the Museum. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
It has become the tradition each year in January for the Museum to introduce a new Artist in Residence program to Coral Springs to create a major sculpture for the Sculpture Garden.
Gateway to Peace by Peter King, renowned architectural ceramicist, and Xenia Marin, Professor of Ceramics at the University of Costa Rica will collaborate to create a monumental gateway for the Peace Garden. Marin an expert in ceramic instruments will add elements to the sculpture that will bring sound to the piece as the wind moves through the sculpture. The husband and wife team will work on the grounds of the Museum and in the Museum’s clay studio with volunteers to build the gateway.
The public will be able to watch Peter & Xinia work on the gateway Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday 10am to 4pm in the Museum.
Inside the Museum will be an exhibition of some of King and Marin’s work. Peter showcasing his large, impressive fireplaces, doorways and building accents and Marin exhibiting her delicate wind instruments. The exhibition will also highlight the process of the project – what is the creative process and how does it work. King and Marin have scheduled clay workshops for artists and children.
