The role of our docents is to interpret the Museum's exhibitions through guided tours, interactive education and hands-on
activities. Visitors range from school tours to adult groups
and families. Our volunteers play an important role in the
Museum by participating in various programs and assisting
Museum staff.
Requirements—
The Museum's docents and volunteers share a love of art, and
enjoy sharing their knowledge of art with visitors. The
staff will provide training in the content matter at the onset
of new exhibitions, as well as interpretive techniques. Membership
is greatly encouraged, as it shows support and endorsement
of the Coral Springs Museum of Art. A one-year commitment
and minimum of 2 hours a month meet our minimum requirements.
Jr.
Volunteer Program:
The
role of our Jr. Volunteers is to assist in many different
capacities in the Museum year round. Some of the areas may include assisting
in the art classes, mailings, fundraising events, family fundays,
openings, or special events. Service hours will be awarded
to those students who are committed and participate on a regular
basis.
Teens Talk to Kids About Art:
The
Junior Volunteers that participate in this program will learn
how to become Junior Docents. There will be training involved
to teach the methodology that is associated with conducting
tours for children. They will have the opportunity to conduct
the tours and assist with an art activity. Service hours will
be granted to these students.
